|
|
|
In the course of the 1950’s businesses stretched out rapidly. Blue collar workers (those who manufactured and sold goods) were now white collar workers (those that do clerical, managerial, professional occupations). Organizations at this time were branching out into other businesses then what they had started in, such as done with the International Telephone and Telegraph Company who branched out into a car-rental company, insurance company, and hotel chains. These conglomerate companies did this so if one side of the company failed, then it had the other to help support it.
