The House charged that "the Tendency of the said Paper is to mock Religion, and bring it into Contempt, that the Holy Scriptures are therefore profanely abused, that the Reverend and faithful Ministers of the Gospel are injuriously Reflected on, His Majestys Government affronted, and the Peace and good Order of his Majestys Subjects of this Province disturbed, by the said Courant. ... The Courant was now advertised as being printed by Benjamin Franklin. ... Finally, on September 30, an ad in the Courant read "James Franklin, printer, in Queens Street, wants a likely lad for an apprentice. ...
James Franklin tried to keep the Courant going. ... After the 255th issue of the Courant dated June 25, 1726, James Franklin folded the paper.
