There is one truth of capitalism that has held true from the beginning; it leads to social inequality. “Capitalism… creates a tiny top layer of wealthy powerful people who exploit and degrade a vast bottom layer” of people (Henslin P. ... This is also true of capitalism as it relates to plantations in the West Indies and the slave system, which gave rise to it.
Research has discovered that from the 1490’s to the 1500’s many explorers had visited The Caribbean. ... It was not until the arrival of Christopher Columbus that capitalism began it’s true development in the West Indies. ... It was this trend of private ownership and the pursuit of profit that gave rise to slavery. ... And so it was that slavery became the foundation for the British Empire to accumulate huge amounts of capital that later became the Industrial Revolution. ... They referred to their policy as Laissez Faire Capitalism, which in its literal translation means “Hand’s off” capitalism where they demanded an end to tariffs and other trade restrictions. ...
