The 20th century brought a number of events that changed the nation of Canada forever. At the turn of the century, Canada was a very young country, and still a member of the British Commonwealth. In the years to come, new technologies, industries and immigration were about to change Canada. Canada would later participate in two world wars, which helped Canada find its identity and independence as well as show Canada’s true allies. Canada would eventually established its own maple leaf flag and later on become an independent country. These are just a few well know defining moments that changed Canada forever. They were significant because they impacted a large number of people or they influenced the way Canada grew and developed into a nation. Most defining moments in Canadian history are recognized among Canadians and are well known, however, some significant events are often overlooked. The following is a summary of four defining moments which are often overlooked and why they are significant to the nation of Canada. ... Peters were competing in a boy’s semi-final amateur baseball game (Canada’s Digital Collections). ...
