The American Revolution had no one cause - instead there were a number of underlying issues between the colonies and England. While independently these were not enough to cause a revolution, combined and with much agitation from pro-independence orators, they resulted in the Revolution. ... Yet over time the Seven Years War probably advanced the idea of an independent American nation. ... The rising taxation of the colonies was not enough to ignite them in revolution against the mother country which had on a whole ruled the Americas benevolently. However there was also an assortment of underlying causes of dissension in the imperial system that the Americans saw as a threat to their rights.
