Carl Freidrich Gauss was born in Brunswick, Germany on April 30, 1777. Gauss wasn’t born into a very wealthy family in fact he was born in a family of peasants. His mother worked as a maid and his father worked as a gardener. Gauss’s father also worked as a trader and a foreman, which is a merchant’s assistant. Gauss’s mother was not really happy with her marriage, but stayed married because of her son. Carl Friedrich Gauss was very smart as a young man. Before he could begin to talk he was able to calculate things in his head.
