Cousin s Wars

In his book, The Cousins’ Wars, Kevin Phillips discusses how religion, politics, and war influenced three different conflicts. The English Civil War, the American Revolution, and the American Civil Wars “seeded” each other and led England to be Great Britain, a dominant world power (Phillips xi). ... In the mid-seventeenth century, England’s Stuart Dynasty was slowly trying to convert the country back to Catholicism. ... In 1688, England’s paranoia about a Catholic dynasty became too much, and English political leaders then called William of Orange. ... Phillips believes that the English Civil War and the Glorious Revolution are both are both civil wars and revolutions.
