It wasn’t until about the eve of the revolution when colonists started to come together and decide on independence. The colonists seem to come together by uniting in protests, supporting one another in unification, and realizing that England was no longer needed and the Americans could support themselves. In the years prior to the American Revolution, England put a lot of acts and taxes on the colonists in order to help England pay for the troops in America. Colonists did not like the idea of having to pay for the protection. Protests that occurred after would bring together the colonists for the first time. The Sugar Act, the Quartering Act, and the Writs of Assistance all caused the colonists to tighten their fists, but the Stamp Act probably caused them to act out.
