While imperialism did occur, Manifest Destiny could have been practiced without much of the hostility that overtook the United States. ...
Another important factor to disproving the ideals of Manifest Destiny, is in examining how it was carried out. ... Chief Seattle also stated, “Your time of decay may be distant… for even the White Man whose God walked and talked with him as friend with friend, cannot be exempt from the common destiny. ... While the government widely supported Manifest Destiny, it is not unlikely that they would disagree had some other country used it to gain American land.
