The African American Civil Rights movement during the 1960’s was a true struggle that took time to work through. ... Organizations and groups were made and appointed to take part in the Civil rights to make a change for the better, from school segregation to voting rights and treatment. The early 1960’s did not come easily for African-Americans, especially in the south. Voting rights were unfair for African-Americans with sometimes ridiculous tests or police stopping them from voting or registering to vote. ... At Diners, Restaurants, Bus Stations and Train stations, were segregated as well, having either separate entrances or seating or also not serving African-Americans at all. Even with Busses, African Americans always had to take the back or they had to give their seat up to a white person. ... The SNCC had a commitment to civil rights activism at the community level. ... President Kennedy was a true supporter of the movement, and enforcing the Supreme’s Court’s decisions with Civil Right Act’s. ... Kennedy also stated in Document D “The heart of the question is wheter all Americans are to be afforded equal rights and equal opportunities wheter we are going to treat our fellow Americans as we want to be treated. |
