The success of the United States’ Containment Policy during the Cold War is question which has puzzled historians for many years. In order to analyze the success of this policy one must first look at the policy’s original intentions. George Kennan, the founder of this policy, portrayed communism as a “malignant parasite” that needed to be contained by all possible measure- the Containment Policy. ... The principle of containment did not simply remain a political policy it our life so that it would eventually cause the collapse of the Soviet Union. ... The enforcement of this policy was first seen in Greece when the communistic groups began waging warfare against the monarchists. ... This proved to be one of the more successful components to the Containment Policy because it had successfully ended communistic filtration into Europe. ...
Another manifestation of the Containment Policy at is peak is with the Cuban missile crisis. ... Khrushchev would back down and because of the United States’ stern policy the communists had suffered another blow which would be one of the many reasons for the fall of the Soviet Union.
The United States’ involvement in the Vietnam War is also a direct result of the Containment Policy.
