Easter Island
The Easter Island is known as the most remote inhabited island on Earth and only covers about an area of 64 square miles. ... The island was formed by consecutive massive volcanic eruptions where it was inhabited by only seabirds and dragonflies for the first millions of years until the humans took over. In 1722, a Dutch explorer, Jacob Roggeveen, came across the island. This happened to be on a Easter Sunday and the name stuck: Easter Island (Isla de Pascua in Spanish).
