In the sixteenth century, Portugal came to dominate Brazil while Spain established an humongous colonial empire that included Central America, most of South America and parts of North America. Within the lands of Central America and South America, a new civilization arose,-Latin America. ... The Imperialism of early South America has affected present South America tremendously to this day.
The motives for imperialism was chiefly an economic one. ...
