From 1600 to 1763, which was the end of the French and Indian War, several European nations vied for control of the North American continent. The French did not succeed and the English won the struggle. ... The Iroquois hated the French and their Indian allies, the Hurons. Because of their hatred for them, they agreed to help England during the war. The English had control of the Albany trade post, so the French no longer held the monopoly in fur trade. New England settlers’ economy was much better or more stable than the French’s because they had trade and plantations or farming. ... Where the French depended mostly on fur trade in the North American continent and didn’t settle permanently because they moved with the animals.
