Tara McHugh G-block 6/10/02 The Scientific Revolution The Scientific Revolution began with Copernicus questioning universal understandings which then led to further discoveries. This shattered humans pre-existing belief systems and they were led closer towards science. People interested in science were curious about what was happening and started to investigate. Those with better educations were usually the ones to do so. Average peasants wanted to believe the easiest possibility. They were more interested in thinking about where their next meal would come from rather than if the earth was really the center of the universe. Many people were shocked by the new discoveries of explorers, mathematicians and scientists during the scientific revolution. Others were excited and motivated to learn more. But as more discoveries were made more people began to question things about the universe. Everything was in doubt and there was no telling what was true and what was fiction. The old ideas did not make sense anymore but there were those that were unwilling to give them up and believed God the reason for everything. The scientific revolution’s main elements were mathematics and materialism. The universe was made up of matter in motion.
