... In the first amendment of our Declaration of Independence another right was added: the right to a free press. It clearly states, “Freedom of expression consists of the rights to freedom of speech, press, assembly and to petition the government for a redress of grievances…” Being a democracy, our government’s job is to protect its people’s rights. When President Bush decided to close all American newspapers, he was really taking away our freedom of press, therefore not protecting out rights. ... In most cases press of such kind is usually negative to it’s government, which would be why it would cause inconvenience to President Bush. Freedom of press to the public goes hand in hand with freedom of speech. These are acts, which come naturally to us today.
