Hammurabi's laws
In order for his subjects to be safe when living in his city, Hammurabi took measures to ensure justice. He did things like command that anyone who gives false evidence or witness to a crime would be killed if the punishment of the crime were to kill the falsely accused. He gave a similar threat to the judges of his court system, ordering that anyone who wrongly convicted a citizen would pay twelve times the punishment administered. He did these things to keep his laws from being interpreted in a corrupt way.
