My definition of history is events that have occurred in the past. Before AP History this year, I thought history was always the straightforward truth about the past. ... From reading the four selections, my opinion on what history is has greatly changed. Also, my outlook on history and this class is going to be drastically different.
What we learn in history books today is basically dependent on what the author, authors, and/or historians want you to know. ... ” This is a one sided statement, which kind of related to history today. The lion, just like history, is seen from an opposing side and one perspective. I think it is very important that historians look at history from as many angles as possible so we students don’t learn from a biased perspective.
History also tends to leave out several bad things about the “heroes” we have today in society. ... In the selection, Handicapped by History, some significant facts that most historians/authors leave out are thrown out into the open. ... These uncovered facts are astonishing and make me more interested and perplexed on what parts of history could be hiding.
