HANGING GARDENS OF BABYLON
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were created by King Nebuchadnezzar II. He created the hanging gardens because his wife, Amyitis, who was the daughter of the king of Medes, was homesick. Her homeland, Medes was green and mountainous, while Mesopotasmia, the location of Babylon, was flat, dry, and “depressing”. ... , claimed that the city of Babylon had walls 56 miles in length, 80 feet thick, and 320 ft. ... Another ancient historian, Diodorus, tells us that the gardens in the city were 400 feet wide by 400 feet long and that they were 80 feet high.
