History

History is not a set of random choppy events. It is a chain of interrelated events, and each event has a great impact on the one that follows. This is exactly what Faulkner meant when he wrote, "The past isn't dead. It's not even past." The past is not dead. Events that happened nearly a century ago can, and do, still have an impact on us today. One such event happens to be World War I because it became responsible for World War II, creation of Israel, high gas prices, and even the tragic events of September Eleventh. During the early part of the 20th Century, almost all the European nations held lands in either Asia, Africa, or America, but Germany was left out of this land grabbing frenzy because of it's location. Soon Germany decided that she needed more land and so started World War I. When the war came to a close, the Allies wanted revenge, and so they decided to strip Germany of most of its lands and fighting equipment. Germany also owed money to the allies to make up for all the war debts. The Germans realized that they were being plundered, and the disillusionment, because of the collapsing economy, set the stage for the next episode of this bloody war. The other countries made the mistake of thinking that the war was over, another event that had been locked in the vault of history, never to haunt mankind again, but as Faulkner said, "the past isn't dead." Soon the Germans had regrouped, and a man by the name of Hitler had stepped onto the global stage.
