For this particular research assignment, I have chosen to examine the following two topics from the selection Mr Edwards has offered. The Treatment of Jews Jews were amongst the most persecuted races in history in the Middle Ages, most European countries stripped them of their rights, expelled and even executed them. For example the burning of Jews in medieval Germany. During the Weimar Republic, German Jews were considered citizens in every respect. They were to be found in all walks of life, especially in professions such as law, medicine and civil services. Then came a terrible reverse. Between 1933 and 1945 the Jews were once again persecuted. By the time the third Reich had ended, most of Germany’s Jews had been deliberately wiped out, along with million of others through out Europe. This 12 year period represented horrifying changes. During 1933, German Jews were deprived of their rights and protection of the law. Physical violence was not the main method used. In March 1933, Hitler ordered the S.A to stand outside Jewish shops, to turn away customers. In April, Jews were forced to give up their jobs in the civil service. Although President Hindenburg made sure that expectations were made for those who had served in, or lost a family member of the family, on world war one.
