Justification of ndependence

The British government allowed the American colonies to operate under salutary neglect before the French and Indian war. However, after 1763, the British government needed the colonies to share the cost of the war. Britain passed all kinds of acts which directly limited the colonies¡¯ rights. The colonists then declared independence in 1776. Were the colonists justified in their rebellion against England? Although the colonies reacted violently against every British policy, the colonists had all the right based on the principle to fight for their independence. The Intolerable Acts, John Dickinson opposition, and the Declaration of Independence could justify the colonists¡¯ action. The Intolerable Acts enforced after the Boston Tea Party had suppressed the economy and the rights of the colonists severely. At the night of December 16, 1773, a group of men in Indian garb pitched British tea into water. The unreasonable action shocked the British government and made the Parliament passed the Intolerable Acts. One of the acts closed the Boston port. The colonists strongly opposed the act in that closing the port meant restricting their business and trade. While only a small group of people committed the action, the colonists felt unfair for the British government to punish everyone.
