PEARL HARBOR On December 7, 1941 the Japanese’s surprise attack was successful, the attacks came in waves. The first hit came at 7:53 am, the second at 8:55. Around 9:50 it was all over, by 1:00 the ships that launched the planes were on their way back to Japan. Both attacks left 2,403 people dead, 188 planes destroyed, and 8 battle ships sank.
