Reasons for Using the Atomic Bomb

The decision to use the atomic bomb was a long process in which many brilliant men collaborated together weighing the pros and cons in an effort to decide whether or not it would be worth using such a device. ... There were many who thought that it was the wrong decision to drop the bomb, or that the bomb was dropped for the wrong reasons. However, Truman’s decision to drop the bomb proved to be an overall success in terms of sealing the war, showing the world what we were capable of, and pleasing those who had worked so hard on the bomb, as well as those who had spent their money on such a high priced project. Taking all viewpoints into consideration, the final decision to use the bomb proved to be the correct decision.
There were several reasons why, once completely developed and tested, that the United States should use the bomb on Japan. ... They wanted to avoid this at all costs and dropping the atomic bomb would be a perfect solution to this problem. The bomb would destroy them in such a way that would force them to conform to the demands of the U. ... The use of the bomb would also show the world and the Soviet Union that the U.S had an atomic bomb and was not afraid to use it. ... Dropping the bomb would show them how much power we really had and that whatever we said, we could back those words with force in the atomic bomb.
