... There are various compelling evidences, which support that Leni was apart of the propaganda in the glorification of the Nazi’s. Leni’s first directorial debut the Blue Light was highly accredited internationally, which resulted in her tour of Europe in 1932. ... As Leni walked through the streets of Berlin she was amazed to find that city was filled with Hitler posters, which advertised an upcoming Nazi rally at the sports palace, Leni unaware of whom Hitler was decided on attending the rally. The after effect of the rally impacted greatly on Leni who found herself mesmerized by the charisma of Hitler, and his many visions in the restoration of Germany’s fortunes. The influence of Hitler’s speech resulted Leni in writing a letter wanting to meet the Furher personally. Leni’s wish to meet Hitler was granted on the basis that Hitler himself was also interested in meeting Leni as he admired her directorial efforts, her acting and her recent film The Blue Light. From this short meeting with Hitler followed by another more personal meeting at the end of 1932 Leni felt her inability to resist the charisma of Hitler. Furthermore when Hitler had casted his charms on Leni he persuaded her to make a film for the Nazi’s saying “I am not looking for a newsreel but an artistic document” Hitler also specified to Leni that this film was to be commissioned by Hitler himself, with the full cooperation of that was involved with various resources at her disposal, an unlimited budget, crew of 120 and between 30 and 40 cameras, it is most definite that Leni wouldn’t have turned down such an offer having everything to her wanting, and also not having any directions taken from Goebbels the propaganda minister.
