Rain This cursed rain falls from the heavens and soaks into the ground. Rivulets of water run down my hood and drip before my eyes. This is a gray place, devoid of colour, emotion or life. The only sense in these lands is that of madness. I cannot sleep. My eyelids are as heavy as my sword arm. Movement surrounds my campfire, the wind, rustling through the boughs of the trees shaking the leaves from side to side. I try to embrace the night, remove the pain I feel inside but nothing happens. I hate this rain. This hellish land has brought nothing but dark memories upon my life. Seeing innocent bodies strewn throughout towns, children slaughtered, and my brother’s body lying in a pool of blood. The maps in my old village showed great cities with wonderful villages scattering the lands. All that remains of these are smoking ruins and blackened piles of rubble. The sky is dark. Storm clouds constantly span the sky, never releasing their anger but hovering, casting a shadow across the lands. The sun has not appeared in weeks. A merchant once told me that this land was close to a great desert, where the sun and heat beat down on you like a fist and all around you was red hot, glistening sand.
