The second time Simon goes to the boys to tell them what the beast is occurs after a lengthy discussion with the beast. During this discussion, Simon comes to realize that the beast is actually only inthe boys and it can’t hurt them, but that they can hurt themselves. ...
In The Lord of the Flies, Golding makes Simon’s life like Jesus’ in many ways. Simon is a small and thin boy, with bright eyes, long black hair and a pointed chin. ... Simon’s name is also the same as one of Jesus’ followers. ... Simon goes off into the forest by himself, has visions and even has a conversation with the devil. Even when Simon dies, instead of using pathetic fallacy Golding does the complete opposite. He makes the scenery around Simon beautiful and illuminated as if he is floating into heaven like Jesus did in his resurrection. ... The great wave of the tide moved further along the island and the water lifted. ... Simon’s dead body moved out towards the open sea.
