The Intricate Aspects of Historyography

To set forth the most accurately possible significance of history, a prodigious challenge all historians confront perpetually. What causes it to be so incredibly arduous to define ? It seems the more one attempts to do so, the deeper one dives into an ocean of complexity and byzantine. Inumerous debates and discussions occur every year involving historians, concerning what the acceptation of the word " history " and its boundaries should be. Since human beings possess endless opinions, beliefs, and angles from which an idea can be viewed, the process of defining history and the topics it should encompass is undescribably toilsome and lengthy. For this reason, most historians hold their own beliefs of what the demarcations for history are, and support them with what seems most reasonable and accurate to themselves. This is my exact purpose for accomplishing this work. Three exceptional figures who have played superior roles in history are Carl Becker, E.H. Carr, and Barbara Tuchman. All have proposed various arguments and concepts which resulted in great impact in the field of historyography. Before I introduce and contrast their views upon this subject, allow me to firstly present my opinion on this broad topic. My conviction to this theme demonstrates desagreement to the views of Becker and Tuchman, since they either include or exclude a broad portion of knowledge to their definitions of history, and fully support Carr's wise beliefs and accurate definitions, for acting in an opposite manner.
