Teddy Bear

|
|
The Teddy Bear It’s three AM. I can’t sleep. I guess I’ve never really gotten used to Boston yet. I slowly make my way to my couch. It’s a nice one, with pop- out footrests, kind of like the ones cosmetologists use when they’re giving a pedicure. On it, I keep my most prized possession. To anyone else, it’s just a plain teddy bear. To me, it represents everything what I hold dear. I collapse onto the couch, falling back in time. Back to a bright summer’s day two years ago… Looking at my new house, I carry a box of my belongings up a flight of stairs to my new room. I should be used to moving by now, but each time it’s so different. I’m moved at least ten times. I’ve lost count. You see my parents work for the government. I’m not sure what they do, but it must be very important because we’re always moving around.
