Teripin Station

As I get older I find that I am needing to take on more responsibilities. I now have to get a job, I have to get a drivers license, and I have to get into college. These steps I take bring me closer to my final place, my metaphorical Ithaka. I have chosen to name this place Terrapin Station, because it is the title of my favorite song. This place will hold for me all my responsibilities as an adult, and will be a place of meditation, and relaxation. I don’t know what it will be like, the color, its shape, but it will be my own place, where I can have the freedom to do what I please, and a place where I can live out my years. Just as Odysseus did, I too will have obstacles, and trials to reach this place of bliss. After my parents got divorced, I found it hard to understand things, why they split up, why I couldn’t see my dad every day. I never really knew what was happening, I was too young. From there, it was a long streak of getting in trouble at school, and always feeling left out. I became independent, because I lived in isolation, miles away from town. I lost friends, when I switched schools, but I slowly made new ones. Life was bumpy; I always tried to stay out of the middle of things. My mom had remarried, but that too ended. I always had mixed feeling about my stepfather, and never knew what to believe. He was such a nice person, and always helped me, but my mom made him out to be horrible. It was emotionally hard on me, since things were changing again, and that’s when I started moving. Lease to lease, better home to better location. I couldn’t blame my mom, it’s not her fault she can’t afford a house. I had it easy I guess, since I wasn’t the one dealing with the bills. Then I had a little run in with the law. My parents found it best that I change schools, so that I would be going to a better school.
