For the vast majority of early American colonists, the United States offered significantly more opportunities for economic advancement. However, the Indian tribes native to the land as well as those forcibly taken to America as slaves were robbed of opportunity in nearly every sense of the word. During the early American colonial times, majority of those arriving at American ports came as indentured servants. ... Although most of these white businessmen did not become extraordinarily wealthy, they did find more economic opportunity here in American than what they had back in England, Germany, Ireland, or any other European country they may have come from.
