Taming of the Shrew

Media Essay For Taming of the Shrew Shakespeare wrote Taming of the Shrew in 1594. In 1967 Franco Zeffirelli turned this comedy into a movie starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. In movies many different devices are used to make the film interesting. In the final scene of the movie, at Bianca and Lucentio’s wedding reception three of these devices are used. I will discuss how the actors’ acting styles, the arrangement of the actors and the use costumes, show that Petruchio and Katherina will live a happy life while the other two couples are in for hard times ahead. When watching the final feast of the movie, it is easy to see that Petruchio and Kate act towards one another in a respectful manner. They politely eat their dinner while glancing at one another occasionally as if to apologize for their previous embarrassing kiss. Also after seeing a group of small children playing they give one another a look that almost seems to ask if someday they believe it would be possible for them to have children. While they are looking back and forth you realize they are in love even if they aren’t kissing and holding each other hands.
