· 1607: first colony on the territory of todays USA - the Jamestown colony; Colonists from England tried to make money by trading with Europe. ... The Plymouth colony introduced the following new principles which are now part of the US constitution:
a) the people would vote about the government and laws
b) the people would accept whatever the majority chose
· 17th century: more colonies are founded in the New England area (such as Maryland, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York); most of the colonies had religious freedom, which was the reason for people to migrate to America during this period of time
· 1775-83: "War for Independence" - colonists were fighting against English dictatorship
· 1776: "The Declaration of Independence" - fight for independence from England - the USA were born
· 1787: "The US-Constitution" - the USA were the first democratic country, in which the government ensured religious and political freedom
· 1790: 4 million people lived in the USA with about 10.
