After the French Revolution broke out in 1789, the next twenty years of Europe was cast over with the terror of the French Revolution along with its terrifying expansion on power, now that this had come to an end it was time to resolve matters; reinstating countries, putting borders where best suited etc but would the leaders of the great powers: Russia, Britain, France, Prussia and Austria be able to solve these matters through more than just self interest?
Although the powers wanted to preserve peace within Europe each country possessed their own interests at the Vienna peace settlement. ...
Prussia’s aim was very simple in the fact that she wanted to gain more land and tell the world that she was a great power amongst the European giants. ...
Austria was at the central of Europe and was often scared as she was in-between two great powers of Europe, also Austria was linked with Britain as they had similar interests and also the two countries pursued the possibility of balance of power in Europe. ... Which is why the Vienna settlement was so hard to settle because the land had to be given in appropriate amounts and to the right powers of rule, this was often difficult as powers such as France Russia and Prussia were all after higher European dominance and so they would try to gather as much land as possible.
