Was Roman Medicine the Same as Greek Medicine

It is certain that the Greeks influenced Romans especially after Greece became part of the Roman Empire. The first doctors in Rome were actually Greek doctors captured as prisoners of war although, later on, Greek doctors practically flooded to Rome out of their own free will because they could make a good living there. ... Alexandria was the centre of medical learning and Hippocrates and his followers wrote the main books in Rome – all of who were Greek. So we can clearly see that the Romans had a fairly good advantage at their starting point of developing medicine –as they could simply ‘borrow’ (or usually just take!) the ideas of medicine, that the Greeks knew, developed and used, to build upon for themselves. The Romans even had their answer to Hippocrates – Doctor Galen – who expanded Hippocrates’ well known medical practices for the Roman Empire BUT Galen himself was Greek, not Roman! It is because of these points that there was little difference between these two empires’ methods of medicine.
However, some differences can be identified as the Roman Empire called for slightly more advanced medical techniques and practises due to the fact that they had larger cities with more wealthy people located in them ASWELL as a vast army with hundreds of thousands of soldiers whose health was vital as the entire army was depended upon to control the empire. ... Right now I am going to concentrate upon the main ways that the Greek methods of medicine were both similar and different to that of Roman medicine. ...
Greek and Roman doctors used many of the same methods and cures.
