The war of 1812 was a war about commerce, the second war between Great Britain and the United States was sometimes known as the "Second War of Independence" because it marked the United States acting as an independent nation declaring war to protect its interests. ...
The country was preparing for another war with Great Britain. There were many factors within the country that was hurting the war effort, or general consensus. The congressional vote to enter the War of 1812 displayed the diversity of the country into two separate parties.
