Abortion
What is Abortion?
Abortion is the termination of pregnancy before birth, resulting in, or accompanied by, the death of the fetus. Encarta Encyclopedia
The question of whether abortion should be legally available either in Australia or in the United States has begun to be debated with renewed vigour since the publication of many articles written by various writers.
Arguments in favour of abortion remaining legally available
There are three primary positions from which laws allowing abortion are defended.
One of these is essentially that abortion is acceptable because what is at issue in abortion is not the taking of a human life, but the continued survival of an embryo or foetus, which, it is claimed, is only a potential human life.
