In the excerpt of David McGowan’s Derailing Democracy, he makes the point to the reader that America’s media is actually a ‘propaganda organ of the states’ and gives examples. ... So basically, GE’s media subsidiaries cheer on the use of US military force, glorifying any warfare, to promote and make money off of the ‘high tech tools’ they sell the nation. McGowan also points out that much of the media coverage, like the famous OJ Simpson trial and the Jon Benet Ramsey case, are used as a form of distraction and entertainment, not to inform.
