Animal Farm By: George Orwell Throughout George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm, the pigs were the most intelligent animals on the farm, therefore assuming leadership and possessing all power. The power, which the pigs possessed, allowed them to have certain privileges that other animals could not have. The commandments were disrespected and disobeyed by the pigs. Eventually they started acting like humans. The leaders of Animal Farm became corrupted, therefore, proving Lord Acton’s quote, “All power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely.” The pigs used their authority in order to take advantage of certain situations during the rebellion, which became a source of corruption. The corruption of the pigs was growing as they abused their power and spread propaganda. While the other animals went to work, Napoleon seized the opportunity to take the milk, which was being mixed into the pigs mash.
