Graduation Speech

Kimberly Oppenheim Graduation Speech, Class of 2003, President Have you ever thought it was too late to do something you know you should have done a long time ago? You just want to kick yourself because you have come to the conclusion, and perhaps this thing—this chance you had—is gone and won’t ever come back. Well, here we are at our H.S. graduation, and for me, that chance is now: I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you, class of 2003, for helping to shape the person I grew up to be. A thousand thanks to all of you who helped me grow along the way. Thanks for sharing your red crayon with me when mine broke. Thanks for teaching me the “cool way” to draw flowers and teddy bears. Thanks for not laughing at me when I thought boys were “dreamy”. Then later, thanks for helping me bring all my stuffed animals to the basement, because it wasn’t cool for a kid in junior high to sleep with stuffed animals. And then thanks for not laughing at me when I cried and took the special few back up to my room. Thanks for not calling me stupid when I didn’t understand what the big deal about CD’s was and when the only CD I had was TLC’ Crazy Sexy Cool. Thanks for staying at the library with me until practically closing time helping me to study for that big math test.
