Improvement One sixth of the students who sign up for junior college drop out within the first two weeks of school, that’s about 2,000 students in one semester at Cypress College. If high school students had been better prepared than the transition from high school to college wouldn’t be such a shock. Or possibly colleges and universities could make the transition from high school to college a bit easier. If colleges and universities gave written evaluations instead of A B C D F grades, instructors could help students feel more confident about themselves, become better students and learn how to take criteria from their instructors and in turn improve on their studies and lives. If a student received a written evaluation instead of a letter grade they could become more confident in their work and know how to improve on what they are lacking in.
