JEPET Residents of Springfield, a city occupied by one million, must decide whether or not it is necessary to build a new football stadium for their home team, the Springfield Hawks. If the town were to vote in favor of this measure, it would cost taxpayers roughly ninety million dollars. On the other hand, if the town were to vote against the proposed measure, they could risk losing their prized team to another city if adequate repairs (with costs exceeding fifty million dollars) to the existing stadium were not made. This decision is no small undertaking, for the people of Springfield must decide exactly where they want their tax dollars going. Whether or not residents are football fans, this decision will affect everyone. The people of Springfield must come to a decision that is best for the city’s well being as a whole, not for the sake of their football team. After carefully reviewing all of the facts presented from both angles, pro and against the measure, I have come to realize that building the stadium would bring numerous benefits to the city. Not only would Springfield flourish with new opportunity presented to the residents, the city would prosper with tax revenues made as a direct result of the new stadium. Though building the stadium would help the city flourish, one has to weigh the outcome if residents decided to vote against the proposed measure.
