Leadership

|
|
The Classical readings by Chief Joseph, Confucius, Machiavelli and Rousseau offer unique insight into the ideal traits and characteristics of a leader. Although the readings often present contradicting points of view, each can be applied to a different life situation. In relation to our story, which narrates the actions of a leader in a moment of crisis, one can immediately draw parallels between the actions of the NTT CEO and the life and teachings of Chief Joseph. The first parallel stems from the ability of a leader to remain calm and collected during a moment of crisis, and perhaps even gain inner strength with the more difficult situations. Chief Joseph clearly demonstrated this ability when some of his tribe members decided to begin the war without his approval.
