Article 2 of The European Community Treaty of 1957 outlines the aims and objectives as establishing a common market using the policies of the Member states economic policies to promote the development of economic activities of the Community through harmony. Also the treaty states the expansion through balance and continuity and stability. The social aspects are to raise the standard of living and the forming better relationships between the member states. While the Treaty of The European Economic Treaty limits itself to only a few aspects, and focusing mainly on the common market and economic growth, the Draft Treaty Establishing a Constitution for Europe of 2003 Article 2 and 3 have expanded their intentions to much more in-depth aims and objectives concerning the European Union.
