Awakenings I was getting tired of running. How did I get myself into these situations anyway? The thing was gaining on me. I had to find a way to get myself out of this mess. Then I saw it, my portal to freedom. Okay, so it was actually an alleyway, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I rolled on my side and tumbled into the alley. There were no sounds of pursuit, but there was no reason to take chances. I ducked into an opening in the wall, hoping the alley cat I had dislodged in this action would not reveal my position to that which hunted me.
