... I chose a Montessori school out in Denton. The reason I choose that school was because growing up my parents really good friend had three kids and all three of them went to a Montessori school and I thought doing my observation there would open my eyes to something I have never seen. To my surprise the school was nothing like I thought or even imagined it to be. So to start my observation I did a little background check on what Montessori schools are all about and here is what I learned. One of the major goals of a Montessori school is that the education taught there should fully develop children’s positive potentials, so they can become happy and useful members of the society. Montessori believes the best way to achieve this was to see that education suits the child’s nature and inclinations. ... The first time I walked into the classroom at this school I felt as if I was a giant. ... They didn’t have a grade system at the school by that I mean letter grades, but they grade each child with what they have learned over the course of the week/year. ... When it came to race in this school, it was very multicultural. ... An overview of what I thought the interaction among the child and the teacher was great at this school. ... The classroom was not in a manor that the teacher stood in front of the student and taught them something, yet the kids seemed to being learning great habits at school. When it came to curriculum at this school they had a list of activates the kids could do. ... Health and safety was a big thing at this school. ... As a whole, I enjoyed this school. |
