Marvelous Rain Forest

INTRODUCTION “The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit” (Henderson 1998). The rainforests provide homes for tribes, homes for animals, and places for plants and fruits. The rainforests are magnificently formed with tall trees reaching 50 plus feet above the ground. The rainforests are filled with more species of plants and animals than any other place on earth. Standing on the ground and looking up, all that a person can see are trees with limbs sticking all over the place. Echoing birds’ calls, surround the forest for miles and miles around. An abundance of plants life spreads throughout the whole forest floor. Fruits that can be eaten can be found up above or down below. Creatures roaming the forests’ floor and skies searching for food or just wandering about. Heavy rains plunger the forests each day, week, month, and years. “Outsiders who intrude into the rain forests can find them uncomfortable, cruel places” (Attenborough and Collins 1990). The jungles of these forests will open up, to those who dare enter this strange astonishing new place. The rainforests can provide homes for tribes, homes for animals, and places for plants and fruits. Tribes The rainforests provides homes for many Indian tribes. There are over two hundred million tribal people in the world and most of the tribes, about fifty millions, lives in the rainforests. Most of these tribes live in small groups without the use of technologies. The tribes living in the rainforests are usually categorizes as hunter-gatherers, hunter-gardeners, or shifting cultivators (Nichol 1990). Hunter-gatherers were the first people that make their living in the rainforests. These people fished, killed game, and gathered foods such as fruits, nuts and tubers (underground vegetables). Most of these people were not tall at all, only around 4-˝ ft.
