Marijuana’s legalization has been a subject of controversy for many years. I believe that marijuana should be legalized because it is not as harmful as some of the other comercial substances available for consumption. As well as being a drain on the economy of the country, it can help people who have some severe medical conditions. The legalization of marijuana would save the country billions of dollars each year. The current system is not effective oin getting rid of the availablity of marijuana. This is shown by the steady increase of usuage over the past ten years. The majority of adulescents today have at least tried marijuana. The dealers of marijuana are not the people who are usually procescuted for drugs. 88% of arrests for marijuana are for possession and the other 22% are for either distrubution or manufacture.
