Memorable Moments

What a night it was on Sunday August 11, 2002. I had no idea that I would be getting up early the next morning to take my wife, Amy, to the hospital and become the proud father of a little girl. That morning we were at the hospital on another routine scare. We thought it was gong to be the last trip to the hospital for sure. Amy wanted that baby out fast. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The doctors explained she was dilated but not be fully dilated, according to Netdoctor.com “The cervix is fully dilated when it has opened 10cm” (1). The doctors estimated time to delivery was about 48 hours. Disappointed, we were on our way home to Arenrath. That night was one of the roughest nights with a lack of sleep and Amy having back labor that she was unaware of at the time. The night seemed to be going fine with us both. We settled in to rest for the night and with in the first half hour my wife was in pain. We had rushed to the doctor other times before and it seemed there was no need to go driving a half hour to the doctor tonight. I had to work the next day and after about 2 hours of waking up every 20 to 30 minutes Amy could tell I was getting aggravated and was polite enough to move into the next room so I could get some rest. I finally was able to get some sleep!
