Net Bios Password Attacks
|
|
|
BIOS is an acronym for basic input/output system. The BIOS is software that allows the user
to determine the set up of the computer. Basically, BIOS is what a computer can do without
accessing programs from a disk. (Bervoets, 2001) For example, one is able to set up in
BIOS, whether the computer is to reboot from the hard disk or the CD-ROM drive. It is
absolutely vital to protect the BIOS from unwanted visitors, as any change in the
computer’s settings can cause a great deal of chaos and disorder. For example, your
university would not want students to be able to access and change the BIOS settings of the
computers in the university labs.
